BUCHAREST: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan and Romania have immense potential in economic cooperation that can be tapped through bilateral economic activities.
Qureshi said this while addressing a joint press talk along with Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Lucian Aurescu on Monday.
He emphasised that reviving the joint economic commission between Pakistan and Romania will further strengthen the bilateral relations. The foreign minister hoped that his visit would help boost bilateral economic relations of the two countries.
Qureshi said that the strategic partnership between Pakistan and the European Union has entered the next level. He said that Pakistan provides immense opportunities for investment. He said that his country will expand economic and trade relations with all member countries of the European Union (EU). Qureshi also invited his Romanian counterpart to visit Pakistan, which was happily accepted.
Meanwhile, Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca appreciated and welcomed the role of Pakistan in the context of the Afghan situation. Nicolae Ciuca talking to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi during a meeting in Bucharest on Monday said that he was also appreciative of the cooperation extended by Pakistan for the evacuation of Romanian nationals from Afghanistan.
Qureshi in his remarks expressed Pakistan’s desire to develop a broad-based relationship with Romania and said improvement in bilateral relations between the two countries in different fields in recent times is imperative. He also apprised the Romanian prime minister of the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir as well as Pakistan’s positive role in Afghanistan.
Earlier, talking to the Pakistani community on Sunday night, the foreign minister said that overseas Pakistanis have been given voting rights and now they can participate in the policymaking of the country. He said Pakistan is focusing on increasing exports to European markets. The foreign minister also inaugurated the Trade and Cultural Exhibition Hall during his visit to the Pakistani embassy which will be used for holding exhibitions to display and promote goods imported from Pakistan. – TLTP
