Captain Dane Van Niekerk is back on the court as Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced an 18-man lineup on Tuesday to participate in the West Indies Proteas Women’s Tour which will start later this month.

Van Nicok returned after recovering from injuries he won in the series against Pakistan and India earlier this year. Van Niekerk also honed her captain’s skills under the helm of Oval Invincibles, scoring 200 runs with an average score of 66.66 and hitting nearly 113 from the field. She and veteran Protean Lizelle Lee are two of the five players who have scored more than 200 times in the tournament so far.

After the team’s announcement, head coach Hilton Moran said in a statement: “After our recent training camp in Pretoria ended, the players continued their training program, then rested and recovered for a period of time, and then We restarted our week-long training camp. Before we set off on Monday. Some of our players have made great progress in injury recovery and we are very happy to see them perform well in international competitions. We look forward to their participation in this series later. The race is still a while away from national institutions,” she added.

South Africa is scheduled to travel to Antigua via Heathrow Airport next Monday, taking three T20Is and five ODIs. The tour began on August 31, and the first T20I will be held at the Viv Richards Cricket Ground.
