Suryakumar Yadav has received his first test team call, and he will fly to England with Prithvi Shaw in the opener, as the team management seeks a substitute after three players were excluded due to injuries.
The three players excluded from the series are Shubman Gil, Washington Sundar and Avis Khan.Schubman fractured his tibia in the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand, and Avis had a dislocated thumb during the warm-up match against County XI, and Washington aggravated his finger injury.
Deputy Jayant Yadav should also go to the UK as a substitute for Washington, but it is reported that currently only Suryakumar and Prithvi have been sent to the UK.
A senior BCCI official confirmed this progress.
“Yes, Prithvi and Surya are flying from Sri Lanka to the UK. Jayant should also go, but due to quarantine requirements, some changes have taken place in the plan. Jayant is not going now. Both players will have the opportunity to transfer from Colombo to London. . Will they fly in the middle of T20 Internationals (Shaw and Suryakumar are part of the Sri Lanka team) or positions that are being developed,” the senior official told PTI.
It is understood that Xiao’s state has left a deep impression on the team’s management, and Agarwal’s current rhythm is not the best. However, according to the quarantine regulations, it is not clear whether Suryakumar and Shaw can participate in the first test in time after completing the strict quarantine.

Jayant is an all-rounder and seems to be recognized for his expertise in bats. Unless R. Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja is injured in a long-term series, he will also be a stable bowler.
Suryakumar’s confident shot can be used at some point in the series, as Ajinkya Rahane’s hamstring injury will keep the team focused.
“In any case, if Ajinkya misses the first test, then KL Rahul will hit the ball in the middle of Nottingham. The team management still believes that Ajinkya may be fine before the Nottingham test.”
No fast bowlers have been sent, as there are already seven speed players in the UK participating in testing and online competitions.
